Alex Goot

Alex Goot, or his one man band GootMusic, originated in Poughkeepsie, New York. Goot provides the drums, piano, vocals, and guitars as well as the editing, writing, and production of all of his music releases. He began in 2004 at the age of 16 and since then he has gained popularity from his profiles on Youtube, purevolume, and myspace, on which he distributes some of his music and provides news and regular updates to his increasing fanbase on his progress.Goot's latest album, Songs I Wish I Wrote consists of thirteen covers of popular songs. Goot's talent is clear to his fans simply by the amount of work that he puts into each song, and the fact that he does it all on his own. He is a sight to see or watch as his music videos show him composing all of the different aspects of each somg simultaneously. As most cover artists, Goot makes songs that may be getting old or boring new and fun to listen to again. I would definitely reccomend listening or following him on his one man band journey to success.

The Band Perry

Perry siblings, Kimbery, Neil, and Reid inherited a love of country and rock music from their parents. The siblings formed a band in their hometown of Mobile, Alabama and often played in off the wall bars, taverns, and festivals in and around their hometown. In 2008 The Band Perry hit the road to Nashville where Garth Brooks and his manager set them up with a recording studio and managers to help them capture their fame. In 2009, almost a year after starting the Nashville country song writing frenzy, The Band Perry signed their record label releasing their EP album The Band Perry. Fresh on their country music debut, The Band Perry has been nominated for Grammys, Academy of Country Music, and Country Music Awards. Their popular singles "If I Die Young" and "Hip to My Heart" have captured the young band a fan base. An entertaining listen for country fans and a new fresh band to follow, I enjoy TBP and look forward to watching them succeed in country music.

Christina Perri

"Jar of Hearts" one hit wonder, Christina Perri, recently released a new mini album. The album, Live at Ocean Ways Studios consists of four new releases and a live version of "Jar of Hearts." Perri has grown popular by her single release of "JOH" nearly a year ago. Fans have anxiously awaited new songs from Perri as her vocal abilities stretch the popular limits. Christina has a very distinct voice and doesn't "techno" her music up as most of the leading female artists nowadays do. Perri could be considered a cross between Sara Barellies and Adele. She has a very smooth and sultry voice and her music would easily be categorized under the "Easy Listening" section of iTunes.

I personally have been a fan of Christina Perri for quite some time now. I enjoy artists who don't have the "Top 40" voice. Someone different and unusual, a distinct warmth to the listeners ear, is what I look for the most. Perri's single "Jar of Hearts" and her live version as well provide perfect proof of her vocal ability. I would definitely recommend sitting down to listen to her voice as well as her powerful lyrics. A must-hear in my book.

Live at Ocean Ways Studios
"Bang Bang Bang"
"Tradgedy"
"Daydream"
"Black & Blue"
"Jar of Hearts"

Sam Tsui & Kurt Schneider

Sam Tsui, the Chinese American Youtbe sensation, is slowly starting to get noticed. The 21 year old produces music videos and covers of popular songs with his friend/accompanist Kurt Schneider. The two grew living a street away from each other and always displayed an interest in music. Their music collaborations began in high school with an electronic keyboard and Tsui's vocals, afer which continued into partnership at Yale University where they both attend for music. The dynamic duo covered nearly 70 hit songs and have also released two of their originals to their Youtube fans and on iTunes. It's rumored that Tsui will soon be guest appearing on the Fox hit Comedy Glee later this spring, "hopefully launching our fame," according to Tsui. I personally find them very talented and a pleasure to listen to. I have all of their music and I am a subscriber to their youtube channel. They've done hit songs of today from Britney Spears to Taio Cruz and throwbacks from Michael Jackson to John Lenon. The thing i like about Sam the most is that he makes each performance his own, he very rarely copies others vocal trends. I would reccommend Tsui and Schneider to anyone who is tired of the songs on the radio. These two gentleman will take any song that's "getting old" and make it fun again.

Below is the link to their newest original song "Start Again."
